Kenya update!
Kenya was a blast! An absolute blast! See
the pictures on the picture page.
Below is my support letter. If you are interested in supporting the ministry further, contact the web site or write the folks at the address given. If you would like to support a child, and I highly encourage you to do so, then feel free to send me an e-mail and I can give you a hand in the process, and even let you know about many of the kids! We met all the kids in Langata (including the AIDS children) and the girls in Makindu. We didn't get to spend much time with the boys in Nakuru since we were such a big part of the Bible School Graduation.
When I get my Master's degree, I want to graduate in Kenya! What joy and celebration! It was amazing! These people are so very grateful for everything and take joy in the simplest of things. PLEASE, don't think this is because they "don't have anything." Because, that isn't the case! Whatever happened here in the U.S. for us to forget that?
I cannot wait to get back to revisit my friends in Kenya!
Chet
Dear Friend,
How would you like to be a hero? Really! In
Kenya there numerous AIDS children (orphans and kids who have the disease) who
have been abandoned by parents and relatives. Without help, they die on the
streets, or even at the hands of their own relatives who can_t stand the shame
in their family. Yet, you can be a hero to these children! Yes, without ever
getting a passport and without applying for a visa. You don_t have to get all
those painful shots! How can this be?.
You can send someone to be your hands and
feet! Many would like to go, but can_t, but by sending help, you are the hero!
Your prayer support and financial help is what Christ Jesus is looking for in
helping another. (Mt. 25:31-44) You have the opportunity to literally save
lives.
I have had a huge blessing occur. I_ve been
praying for the last few years to join the Kenya Short-term Missions team, and
the opportunity has arisen! Some members of the team unfortunately had to drop
out, and I was eligible to join!
What will we be doing there, November 3 through 26? Our team is
supporting Christian Ministries in Africa (CMIA)*, a place that harbors AIDS
orphans and victims. Our team will be teaching CPR and first aid to the
academy_s teachers, creating a library for the school, doing maintenance on existing
buildings, teaching, and working with the new _plant_ churches.
As well, I have the opportunity to present
the Gospel my ventriloquist talents! This is so exciting, as most of the people
in Kenya have never seen a ventriloquist. I have found that ventriloquism is
one of the most effective and powerful tools for sharing the Gospel, and I have
an opportunity to use my talents for spreading Christ Jesus_ love!
Can you be a hero? Have you felt the calling
on your heart? God calls many. Will you be one who hears and responds? Will you
be the one to send the hands and the feet of Christ to another land to share
His love? Would you please pray for this exciting endeavor? Ephesians 6:10
through 18, emphasis on verse 18!) Prayer is the most important thing for this
trip. And, if you can join me in financial support, you can make a
tax-deductible donation to CMIA on my behalf. The address is below. Please make
sure that my name is not on the check you send, but is on the
envelope, to keep the donation tax-deductible. Thank you, so
very much!
In Christ Jesus,
Chet Dickenson
